Reports to: Pastry Sous Chef

Established in 1920, Brook Hollow Golf Club enjoys a strong reputation as one of Dallas' most historic and exclusive private clubs. Brook Hollow Golf Club is now accepting applications for a Baker. This baker will complement our traditions and ambience of simple elegance.

The Baker will prepare food in accordance with club recipes and standards and ensure the highest food quality. These responsibilities include mixing dough, preparing fillings and glazing pastries. To be successful in this role, you should have work experience as a Baker and be able to decorate cakes using creative techniques. Ultimately, you will ensure we offer fresh and delicious goods to our Members and guests, daily.

Summary:

We are looking for a professional with 2+ years' experience baking who is organized, professional and has excellent time management to ensure artistic creations are complete and delivered on schedule. This Baker will prepare a wide range of pastries: cookies, cakes, pies and breads.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean kitchen equipment and tools before use
  • Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
  • Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
  • Mix various ingredients to create fillings for cakes and pies (e.g., chocolate ganache, caramel sauce and fruits)
  • Decorate cakes with glazes, icings, buttercream and edible toppings such as flowers
  • Shape dough to prepare different types of pastries, including croissants, cookies and sweet rolls
  • Prepare custom-made pastries based on customers' preferences (e.g. birthday cakes)
  • Recommend recipes to enhance menu items
  • Track food supplies and place orders, as needed

Job Requirements:
  • Culinary Degree or Student or 2+ years' experience as a Baker or experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
  • Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders and dough sheeters
  • Understanding of food safety practices
  • Experience with cake decoration techniques
  • Creativity, ingenuity and a flair for developing and decorating event-specific bakery items (wedding cakes, birthday cakes, etc.)
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
  • Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
  • Flexibility to work in early morning shifts or PM shift as needed
  • Ability to communication well with people
  • Math skills involving fractions, decimals and knowledge of metric system
  • Able to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift heavy objects
  • Mechanical insight involving the operation of large blenders, multi-use stoves and ovens
  • Certification from a culinary school is a plus
  • Must possess integrity, be honesty, and courteous to all.

Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel.
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms, use hands to finger, to perform job.
  • Must have good or corrected vision
  • Must be able to clearly hear, understand and communicate verbally and in writing in English with members, guests, and co-workers.
  • Must be able to push or lift, up to 30lbs.
  • Independent mobility throughout the Clubhouse and surrounding areas.
