Position Summary

The role of the Sanitation team member is to assist and support the Department -- by cleaning and sanitizing machinery and equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Interpreting control sheets, technician manuals and sanitation standard operating procedures (SSOP's) to clean and sanitize food contact surfaces.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Safe operation of the assigned work area.
  • Deliver effective results within specification and timelines.
  • Assess cleanliness and sanitary quality of machinery and equipment and accept or reject from processing.
  • Communicate with Quality Tech and Supervisor regarding any out of conformance or questionable food contact surfaces and cleans and sanitizes to assure food safety.
  • Operate sanitation machinery and equipment at rated rate of process and deliver assigned work orders.
  • Operate and change settings on the various pieces of sanitation equipment - concentration settings, speed controls, wash time, rinse time, etc.
  • Ensure that minimum downtime is experienced.
  • Validate sanitation effectiveness with visual inspection and chemical swabs and strips for program compliance.
  • Calibrate or replace malfunctioning equipment.
  • Properly and timely complete all shift documentation.
  • Return all sanitation documents and charts at the end of shift.
  • Adhere to GMP (good manufacturing practice) guidelines.
  • Reject and/or clean unsanitary production equipment.
  • Routine housekeeping of assigned work area and adjacent areas.
  • Perform minor maintenance, as needed, with sanitation equipment repairs and/or adjustments
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience
  • 1+ year janitorial experience
  • Bilingual: Spanish and English preferred.

  • Constant physical demands, including reaching, carrying, seeing, bending, walking, and moving in the facility.
  • Will be exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, fumes, oils.
  • Will work regularly near moving equipment.
  • Temperature of work area may be affected by outside temperatures and machinery.
  • Utilization of safety equipment such as glasses, helmets, goggles, clothing, and other materials and equipment that may be necessary.
  • Lifting, pushing, pulling, and/or carrying up to 25 lbs.
