Description

The Director of Acquisitions and Asset Management will lead the sourcing, evaluation, execution, and oversight of real estate investment opportunities across NexPoint's multifamily platform. This role requires deep transaction experience, strategic vision, and operational insight to drive portfolio growth and performance. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned dealmaker with strong financial modeling skills and a proven track record in acquisitions and asset management. NexPoint has a strong history acquiring, owning and operating apartments across the U.S., which is supported by a historical acquisition track record in excess of 62,000 units from 2014 to present.

Responsibilities

Acquisitions

  • Source and evaluate multifamily real estate investment opportunities through broker networks, direct outreach, and market intelligence.
  • Lead financial modeling, valuation, and underwriting of potential acquisitions.
  • Manage the full transaction lifecycle including due diligence, deal structuring, capital sourcing, negotiation, and closing.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, and operations teams to ensure seamless execution.
  • Present investment recommendations to senior leadership and investment committees.

Asset Management

  • Oversee performance of acquired assets to ensure alignment with investment strategy and financial targets.
  • Develop and implement asset-level business plans, including leasing, capital improvements, and disposition strategies.
  • Monitor market trends, tenant performance, and operational metrics to optimize asset value.
  • Coordinate with property management and third‑party vendors to ensure operational excellence.
  • Prepare detailed asset performance reports and strategic updates for stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business, or related field; MBA or Master's preferred.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of experience in real estate acquisitions and asset management.
  • Proven track record of executing complex real estate transactions across asset types (multifamily, SFR/BTR, office, retail, industrial, self‑storage, life science).
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling tools (Excel, Argus, CoStar).
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.

Preferred Attributes

  • Established industry relationships with brokers, lenders, and institutional partners.
  • Experience with post‑acquisition integration and portfolio optimization.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands‑on approach to execution.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and compliance frameworks in real estate.
