Applicants must be 16 or older and legally authorized to work. The Team Member is a business partner responsible for fulfilling the purpose of Whataburger by promptly ensuring each customer's experience meets or exceeds expectations. The Team Member fulfills these expectations by guaranteeing each customer a hot, freshly-prepared product, of the highest quality ingredients; made to order and promptly served in a comfortable, clean, friendly restaurant. To begin the path for career success at Whataburger, Team Members will participate in skills development program and will be required to achieve certification in specific stations associated with the position.

Responsibilities include leadership and communication, people, system, and customer. Leadership and communication involve protecting and promoting the Whataburger brand, notifying management when unable to report to work, checking with management before leaving, recognizing and communicating customer service problems, attending all meetings and training sessions, and submitting work schedule changes according to management guidelines. People responsibilities include demonstrating Whataburger's family value proposition, continuing to learn and improve job skills, learning and adhering to company policy, demonstrating respect for all Whataburger family members, standing out as a role model, and participating in sales promotions/marketing events. System responsibilities include ensuring products are prepared according to quality standards, supporting food production, promoting excellence in customer relations, performing maintenance tasks, operating food production or customer service stations, learning and applying the correct location for all items, achieving certification at specific stations, accurately stating all Whataburger menu items, stocking stations, demonstrating knowledge of proper storage procedures, efficiently preparing produce items, maintaining proper par levels, following established recipes, maintaining utensils and food production equipment, following correct procedures for lifting and carrying heavy items, mopping spills or leaks, notifying management of leaks or equipment failures, demonstrating knowledge of proper handling and storage of sanitizing and cleaning chemicals, cleaning customer service areas, disposing of trash properly, and achieving certification in all cleaning and sanitation procedures. Customer responsibilities include establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, supporting customer service, understanding the order of work, answering the phone in a courteous manner, and demonstrating fiscal responsibility with all company assets. Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 lbs, standing during the entire shift, reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, shaking, stirring, pouring, carrying, and pushing, reading orders on tickets, menu board, receipts, etc., frequent contact/immersion of hands in water, cleaning and sanitation solutions, meat products, poultry products, seafood and produce items, and frequent washing of hands. Key performance indicators include effectively serving as a team player, completing well-defined tasks or projects, arriving at the restaurant with sufficient time to report for work in a clean, complete uniform, learning, understanding, and performing within the specific guidelines for sanitation and cleanliness, and completing station certifications and assessments for each position.
