General Laborer

The General Laborer is responsible for providing essential entry-level support across various phases of construction projects. This role involves assisting with building tasks, site preparation, material handling, and the operation of basic tools and equipment. The ideal candidate is reliable, physically capable, and detail oriented. General Laborers play a vital role in ensuring job site efficiency and safety while upholding the organization's standards and values.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Construction Site

  • Clean and prepare construction sites by removing debris, trash, and hazardous materials (with proper training).
  • Set up tools, equipment, and safety barriers as needed for daily operations.
  • Perform basic construction tasks such as digging trenches and site cleanup.
  • Operate hand and power tools safely, following all training and safety protocols.
  • Load, unload, and relocate construction materials, tools, and equipment between job sites or staging areas.
  • Keep machines and work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Take directions from the GC team to assist with general labor and material handling.
  • Support setup and breakdown of temporary job site structures, including scaffolding, safety rails, and fencing.
  • Perform site cleanup duties such as sweeping, debris removal, and material organization.
  • Assist with punch list items and preparations for final walk-throughs.
  • Stay cross-trained in various areas of site work to support multiple crews and increase team flexibility.
  • Help maximize site efficiency by anticipating needs and proactively supporting the field crew.
  • Follow company safety practices and OSHA standards at all times; use required PPE and report unsafe conditions promptly.
  • Provide support to the field team cleaning the project, organizing materials where required, weed eating, mowing, dewatering ponding water, SW3P maintenance, and street sweeping.
  • Operate equipment only after receiving proper training and authorization.
  • Perform additional tasks and operational duties as directed by the Supervisor.

Non-essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements

  • Construction experience.
  • Prior field or Millwork shop experience is helpful.
  • Operating machines and tools such as: Saws, sanders, air tools, and drills.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Ability to work overtime and lift up to 50 lbs. on a repetitive basis.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and environmental conditions, including exposure to dust, extreme heat, or cold.
  • Ability to perform general housekeeping duties.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Ability to work in a team setting.
  • Operates equipment and tools safely and efficiently.
  • Loads and unloads of delivery trucks as needed.
  • Wrapping assembled cabinets for transport.
  • OSHA 30 required for all field associates.

Work Environment / Physical Activity

  • Work is performed within construction projects, subject to temperature variations, hazardous chemicals, mechanical parts, equipment noise, and dust.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing, or kneeling for extended periods.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, lifting, and climbing.
  • Load, unload, and relocate construction materials, tools, and equipment between staging areas on a job site.
  • Assist GC with general labor and material handling.
  • Frequent exposure to construction noise, dust, and varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment (after proper training) such as pellet jacks or lifts.

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM 4:30 PM (Subject to change based on site demands)
  • Overtime and Saturday work may be required.

Additional Requirements

  • Must wear company-provided safety gear.
  • Punctuality and reliable transportation to job sites.
  • Adherence to site-specific policies and procedures.
