Job Title: Dry Utilities Specialist

The Dry Utilities Specialist assists the coordination of the dry utility, ISP, and fire protection designs with project consultants and internal teams, ensuring clear documentation, permit tracking, and service readiness during the preconstruction phase. The position will report to the Dry Utilities Lead.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Consultant Management

  • Assist in onboarding dry utility and fire protection consultants during early design phases.
  • Support tracking of consultant deliverables and meeting schedules.
  • Maintain an up-to-date directory of consultant contacts and AHJ representatives.

Permanent Power Design and Coordination

  • Support the documentation of permanent power design requirements.
  • Help schedule and prepare materials for utility coordination meetings with AHJs.
  • Track power design approvals and identify missing information in utility applications.
  • Ensure timely permanent power readiness (drawing approvals, permits, long lead item procurement etc.)
  • Coordinate with local Utility Provider and on-site construction teams to coordinate any issues as they may arise.

Internet Service Provider (ISP) & Low Voltage Coordination

  • Assist in collecting ISP design inputs (conduits, room sizes, rack layouts).
  • Communicate installation timelines and handoff needs to field teams.
  • Maintain a log of provider contacts, submittals, and service agreements.

Fire Protection Support

  • Assist with routing and access planning for fire risers, sprinkler rooms, and hydrants.
  • Track plan submittals and follow-up with consultants to close open comments from fire departments.
  • Monitor integration of fire protection needs within architectural and MEP drawings.

General Support

  • Coordinate utility and low voltage design redlines into drawing sets and BIM models.
  • Attend coordination calls and document action items for consultant teams.

Education, Work Experience, & Physical Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering, Utility Infrastructure, or Construction Management or other related fields.
  • 25 years in utility coordination, MEP design support, or field construction administration.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with utility routing, service entry requirements, and MEP documentation. Basic understanding of permitting and municipal utility processes.
  • Experience managing consultants, contracts, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Strong leadership and organizational management capabilities.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strategic thinker with ability to forecast risks and align teams toward delivery milestones.
  • 5-day work week (Monday-Friday)
