Description:

About the Role

The firm is seeking a Electrical EIT (Engineer in Training) to join their growing engineering team. This position is ideal for an early-career engineer eager to work alongside Professional Engineers on municipal and utility-related electrical systems — including power distribution, lighting, controls, and instrumentation for infrastructure projects.

You'll have the opportunity to participate in all phases of project development, from concept through construction, while receiving hands-on mentorship that supports your path to PE licensure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior electrical engineers with the design and development of electrical systems for water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, lift stations, and treatment plants.
  • Prepare detailed electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and layouts using AutoCAD (Civil 3D or Electrical).
  • Perform load calculations, lighting and power design, and short-circuit analysis under the direction of licensed engineers.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, construction documents, and specifications.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with civil, mechanical, and structural disciplines to ensure seamless project integration.
  • Support field investigations, testing, and construction phase services as needed.
  • Participate in project meetings, site visits, and client discussions to gain exposure to real-world engineering challenges.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
  • EIT certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
  • 0–4 years of relevant experience in electrical design for infrastructure or utility systems.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD (Civil 3D or Electrical) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with NEC, NFPA, and related electrical codes and standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic learner who thrives in a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment.
  • Previous internship or project experience in municipal, industrial, or water/wastewater electrical design preferred.

Why Join?

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Broad exposure to multidisciplinary civil and electrical projects.
  • Mentorship and guidance from licensed Professional Engineers.
  • Defined career path toward PE licensure and long-term advancement.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented environment that values professional development.
  • Flexible/hybrid work structure (initially in-office).
