Overview

MRI Technologist position at the Sammons BrainHealth Imaging Center at UT Dallas (Center for BrainHealth). Located in Dallas; regular full-time, salary dependent on qualifications. Open until filled; desired start date 10/01/2025.

This position independently performs prescribed magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures and protocols requiring specialized knowledge and skills in support of the provision of research services to a specific population.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrates equipment, and prepares imaging related materials; cleans and disinfects equipment in accordance with sterile procedures and standards.
  • Screen participants and research personnel for MRI appropriateness and review contraindications for exams including implants, metallic devices, or other foreign objects that would prohibit or modify the MRI exam.
  • Prepare participants for MRI procedures as appropriate to requirements; explain procedures to participants and position them; assist participants at the end of procedure.
  • Independently execute prescribed MRI protocol; determine appropriate calibrations and/or techniques; arrange immobilization and/or support devices.
  • Discuss incidental findings with the lead MRI technologist or physicist as applicable.
  • If modification of an MRI protocol is necessary, consult with researchers to determine appropriate sequences, parameters, etc.
  • Perform general office duties such as delivering MRI data to servers, recording scan times for billing purposes, and typing forms.

Minimum Education and Experience

Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology and 2 years of experience in modality. CPR certified. Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in MRI (MR) and/or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT).

Preferred Education and Experience

Knowledge of Siemens software platform.

To the extent this position requires the holder to research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure as defined in Section 117.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the critical infrastructure is a minimum qualification to be hired and to continue to be employed in the position.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

Various activities include sitting, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, reaching; extensive desk/computer work; manual dexterity for keyboard operation. Vision and hearing requirements for effective communication in person and over the phone; may be required to lift items.

Other Working Conditions

Center for BrainHealth, Dallas location. A remote work schedule is not available for this position.
