The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Benefits Director based in Dallas, TX, at our National Center office. This position will work in a hybrid setting (in the office 1-2 days a week and as needed) in our Dallas office.

Responsibilities

  1. Lead the Association's Benefits programs that align with the Association's strategy, mission, and workforce trends.
  2. Develop, implement, communicate, and administer the Association's benefits programs and policies, including health and welfare, retirement, disability, etc.
  3. Identify, analyze, and recommend improvements or changes to benefit programs based on market trends, company strategy, attraction and retention of top talent, cost-effectiveness, and changes in regulations.
  4. Act as benefits subject matter expert and key point of contact for complex or escalated benefits questions.
  5. Develop and document benefit programs and information for the Shared Services response center.
  6. Build and implement communication/education programs to improve employees and managers' knowledge, appreciation, and effective use of benefits.
  7. Manage vendor relationships with benefits consultants, insurance carriers, and plan administrators.
  8. Prepare information to maintain compliance for health and welfare and retirement plans, including 5500s, SPDs, and other filings.
  9. Maintain benefit programs and ensure adherence to federal, state, or local laws and regulations.

Qualifications

  1. A bachelor's degree in human resources or equivalent work experience.
  2. Minimum Three (3) years' experience developing and delivering comprehensive health and welfare, leave, retirement, and related benefit programs.
  3. Minimum Three (3) years' experience leading and mentoring benefits staff.
  4. Experience, comprehensive knowledge and skills in HRIS systems such as Workday.
  5. Ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization's leadership with a strong collaborative approach.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  7. Strong change management and project management skills.
  8. High attention to detail, customer service oriented, and deadline-driven.
  9. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  10. Proficient with analytics applications such as Google Docs.
  11. Demonstrable ability to study, analyze, and understand business problems, and generate solutions.

Preferred Experiences:

  1. Experience in a non-profit environment.
  2. Proficient in Workday HRIS and related systems.
  3. HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, CBP or CEBS.
